We all have that friend or family member who joined an Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) or Direct Sales company in the hopes of hitting the big time and going on a company paid vacation or cruise. Maybe even getting a car. We've seen these opportunities presented as get-rich-quick businesses and we're tired of it. I know I was. I said over and over again I'd never participate in a company with this kind of structure. Then I signed up to buy essential oils, loved them, and started to sell them. So what changed my mind? Education and meeting people who do it right.
The idea first came to us a few years ago, before any of the now-well-known companies were offering managed WordPress hosting. We brainstormed the process, talked about hiring someone to help build the system and someone to manage it, then we sat on the idea. And, like all good ideas thought about too long, others with the same idea broke ground and took off. Still, in the back of our minds we knew we needed to do this for our clients. And so, here we are, my husband and I, introducing our brandnew service! What is Typpr? It's WordPress hosting for writers and business owners who need to focus
A group of my favorite people, talking business: Masterminds. This focus group was formed by the fabulous Alli Worthington. We have our own Facebook group where we talk about what we're doing, how we can help each other succeed, and our plans to take over the world. Being a part of this group holds me accountable to my goals. I love these women. Big thanks to Intel for sponsoring our February meetup and giving us each an Asus Zenbook from the Intel Ultrabook line.
The not-quite-live Picha Global is going to be one of my favorite places to hang out. A brand new stock photography site, built with the photographer in mind, this site will allow anyone to sell their images. The super cool part? You can keep the proceeds for yourself, or have them sent to the charity of your choice! I'm so excited to be one of the founding photographers, working on the beta site, uploading, testing, and even selling a few photos to other beta users! I'll be sharing more about this as soon as it's ready for the public!
In the summer of 2009 I fulfilled my geeky dream of writing for CNET. I entered an essay contest, won a Palm Pre phone from Sprint, and wrote at CNET for 30 days straight. It may seem a bit silly, but I'm proud to have gotten there based on my writing skills and online influence. You can read all my posts here.
