We'd planned this maternity shoot months in advance and ended up not having an alternate weekend due to holidays and family travel. So, when it looked like we'd get rained out, we decided we'd have to get creative! We ended up having a great time and getting some really beautiful photos, so I wanted to share with you some tips that will help you if your outdoor photoshoot ever gets rained on. Look for Covered Porches and Tunnels or Breezeways We'd already planned to use the beautiful brick wall and wood door on this porch for a backdrop. Because it was covered we were able to go ahead and shoot
My husband found this tiny gecko crawling on the couch. I caught him and released him outside, but not before taking his picture. I love critters of all kinds and this guy was just so beautiful. I was tempted to keep him overnight to show the kids the next day, but I knew it would be selfish to keep him indoors. Last year there were 3 adult geckos living on our carport. This year there are 4. And this is the second baby we've caught and put outside. They come out at night and eat the bugs that gather near the lights. My kids and I love getting home after dark and counting the
I have boys. We have lots of books about bugs. This week we read about Luna Moths so last night when my oldest son ran into the house exclaiming about a big green moth on the shed I was really thrilled to discover he'd found a Luna Moth. Luna Moths don't eat. They don't even have mouths. Named Luna (moon) Moth because they only fly at night. A Luna Moth only lives for about a week. They mate and the female lays
My most recent labors of love have been big projects. Some web based for large clients, some still ongoing, but the one I'm here to tell you about today is a physical product that I'm really excited about... A Garden Journal. You can read all about what it's like, how it came to be and the wonderful people and publisher who made it happen: The Mom Prepares Garden Journal. All of the photography in the journal is mine!
For me, this year, BlissDom was all about the photography. When asked where I'd most like to work as a staff member, I said I'd do anything, but could I please take in a photography session or two? Boy did I get spoiled! I ended up assisting all of the speakers for the photography tracks, so I got to enjoy all those sessions! I missed a few other speakers, but I so enjoyed myself and have zero regrets about being 'stuck' in photography. Zero. On Thursday afternoon I enjoyed the photowalk with Anna Epp and about 80 BlissDom attendees. I know the other hotel guests must have thought we were crazy,
When they play so sweetly together my heart swells.
