If you've never stayed in a Gaylord hotel you've missed out! I've had the pleasure of visiting the Gaylord Texan a couple of times and I've been so impressed with the service and friendliness of the staff. While I haven't stayed the night, I have friends who have and I'll be joining them, along with 700 other women, in March when I attend the blogging conference, BlissDom. I have however, stayed at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, so I know firsthand how amazing the Gaylords are! The Gaylord Texan is everything you'd expect from a Texas Resort... BIG, authentic western decor and friendly staff.
It's a lonely life, this blogging gig. You aren't in an office surrounded by colleagues. You don't walk into the office every morning and greet each other with smiles. Everything is online. Yea, we have tools like Skype and Face Time to keep us connected but they are a poor substitue to actually being with people. Perhaps this lack of daily interaction is what makes blog conferences such a big deal. Yes, we go to learn new things, hone our skills and connect with new people, but mostly we go to connect face to face with those people we talk to and work with on a daily basis but never see or touch. One of the most beautiful places to visit in Dallas, TX, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is open year round and is always beautiful, no matter the season! Masterful landscapes, water features and a walk along the lake make this a very peaceful place, but it's also a photographer's dreamland! Get up close and personal with some beautiful flowers and insects. Enjoy a stroll through a bamboo forest and play in the many fountains. Our kids love this place as much as we do! The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden website has maps, a schedule of events and everything you need to know to plan
Much smaller than other zoos and almost entirely indoors, the Dallas World Aquarium is a perfect rainy day or cold weather to-do in Dallas, TX. Our family has been many times and we always enjoy the exhibits and performances. My personal favorites are the wild cats... yes, at an aquarium! This place has some of everything from manatees to sloths. My son's favorite is the walk-thru shark tunnel. The staff at the Dallas World Aquarium are very knowledgeable and helpful. They make sure everyone has a good time and the animals seem to be well cared for. Admission starts at $12.95 for kids and goes up
Open every day of the week, Legoland Discovery at Grapevine Mills is a great indoor family attraction that everyone will enjoy. There are play areas with huge soft blocks for the smallest of kids and themed rides for the big kids. Build and race Lego cars, create a city and turn on the seismic table to destroy your city with an earthquake. Whatever your kid's age, there's something for them to do and enjoy. A friend and I took our kids, ages 1yr - 14yrs and we had such a blast! We rode the rides and built all kinds of cool things. My favorite part was Mini Land where the Dallas/Ft. Worth cities were
