You’ve written a beautiful piece and you’ve got some pretty good attention grabbing quotes, but getting people to share your content has always been the hurdle. You have social sharing icons, sure, but people are lazy and they’re not going to click to share an article.
They will, however, share a really good quote or thought provoking message, especially if you make it easy.
For a while now some of my favorite bloggers have been using a tool called Click to Tweet. It’s a great concept… you create a catchy phrase or sentence, visit clicktotweet.com and put in your message and the link you want to include, then it gives you a custom url and you can link that up in your blog like so:
How to make sharing your content on Twitter so easy everyone will do it. – Click to Tweet
Or, you could use the WordPress plugin by Todaymade and have it look like this:
Can you see how this tool could be a powerful tool for your blog?
Click to Tweet for WordPress not only makes it easy to share your content it makes content stand out. It’s like a fancy quote box that draws people’s attention to what you’re saying and gently says hey, “share this.”
So, how to you get it?
Want to Customize Your Tweet’s Colors?
The standard color for the font in the box is a medium gray. I wanted the ‘quote’ to stand out more and to match my site, so I added a line of CSS to my site’s stylesheet. You can too.
Note: I’m using a Genesis child theme and my content area is styled via the .entry-content class. Your theme may be different and the first part of this may need changed.
Change the hex code to any color you want!
