So, you want to make a post template? Great!
Post templates are an easy and effective way to pre-format posts you use and write more frequently. I recently got to try it out and it’s super easy to set up.
The Simple Post Templates Plugin, when installed and activated, adds a page to your menu in the WordPress Dashboard. Now, head over to that page.
Once you’re at your Simple Post Templates page, you’ll see where you can add a new template. Click on it. It will take you to a page that looks like this:
Now all you have to do is insert the title of your template and the content. I suggest copying the text of a post you’ve already written and put that in the content area. Remember to copy out the content in the HTML tab so you can keep the format you applied to your post. (Do not copy out of the visual tab of the post.) You can always edit out any information you don’t need once copied and pasted. Once you’ve got that filled out you’re ready to save your template! When you’re ready to use your template go to posts/add new and from there you’ll be able to load your desired template.
That’s really all there is to it!
