In my small home town, not many people do business online. The ones who do are just getting started and it thrills me to see them opening up to new ideas and potential for their companies.
My husband and I have been operating online for several years, offering web hosting and development services to local companies, as well as national and international organizations, but it all started local. My husband used to do a lot of work for a couple of local companies who continue to use our hosting services to this day. Even years later as we’ve grown, we’re extremely grateful for their loyalty, their word of mouth marketing, and their friendship.
Doing business locally is especially rewarding. You get to connect in person with your client, or support another small business owner. I work from home, but I enjoy supporting other local establishments, my favorite of which is a family owned coffee shop where I worked for a year when I first moved to town. Now, it’s a perfect hangout when I need a change of scenery.
Love a Local Business
I learned this week that Intuit has partnered with BlogFrog to support local businesses in their Love a Local Business campaign. They’re letting people nominate their favorite local places, and then open up voting, awarding over $1 Million in Intuit Small Business Grants!
Each month They’ll be giving away $25,000 to a deserving local business. Plus, in July they are awarding $50,000 in grants to businesses in the two cities you love the most!
I’m so proud to see these companies working together, because I love Intuits’ services and BlogFrog’s community building tools. I’m also tickled about what they’re doing to touch local businesses.
Support My Business
The cool thing about this campaign? You can nominate your own company and invite your friends and clients to vote for your business! I’ve entered our company, Networking Creatively, LLC and would be especially tickled if you’d vote for us then share this post with your followers Tweet!
