If you’ve never stayed in a Gaylord hotel you’ve missed out! I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the Gaylord Texan a couple of times and I’ve been so impressed with the service and friendliness of the staff. While I haven’t stayed the night, I have friends who have and I’ll be joining them, along with 700 other women, in March when I attend the blogging conference, BlissDom.
I have however, stayed at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, so I know firsthand how amazing the Gaylords are!
The Gaylord Texan is everything you’d expect from a Texas Resort… BIG, authentic western decor and friendly staff. The concierge are dressed as cowboys and you’ll want to have your picture taken with them. The feel of the lobby and atrium is just a grand open space. There’s a lot less glitter and glam than Nashville, but it’s just as breathtaking.
On your drive in to the Gaylord you’ll enjoy some beautiful scenery. The hotel is set way back from the road and surrounded by rolling hills, has a small river running through the grounds and a beautiful lighted stone bridge you’ll cross to get to the hotel. Parking is $17/day or $27 for valet. There is ground and garage parking and it’s all close to the hotel lobby so you don’t have far to walk! You can find maps and directions here.
There is so much to do and see at the Gaylord Texan! You won’t want to leave! For dining you have everything from authentic Tex-Mex at the Riverwalk Cantina to Itallian at Zeppole Coastal Italian! The Texas Station is a sports bar with a 52inch TV and theatre seating and the Glass Cactus is a lively night club! Ready for a good Texas steak? Visit the Old Hickory Steakhouse. I’ve enjoyed the Riverwalk Cantina and Texas Station already and I can’t wait to try the Java Coast coffee shop!! Learn more about the eateries and view their menus.
Since the Gaylord Texan isn’t officially in Dallas (tho very close… just a few minutes drive from either DFW or Love Field) you’ll want to search for Grapevine, TX when you’re looking for nearby attractions. Grapvine Mills Mall is a fabulous place to visit, housing not only all the great shopping you’d expect to find in a Dallas area mall, but also a Legoland Discovery Center and SEAlife Aquarium making it the perfect stop for a family outing!
Since I forgot to take pictures during my last visit to the Gaylord Texan I’m sharing a few my friend, Alli Worthington, took while we were there.
